The View in Final 10 Nominees for Xfm Awards

The band are one of the ten final nominees for the first ever Xfm New Music Award. Hats Off to the Buskers made it through the first round of voting against 31 other debut albums, so a big thank you to all of you who voted.

The winner will be judged by a panel and announced at a ceremony at Koko in Camden on 16 January 2008.

The View announce details of short UK tour

The View have announced details of a short UK tour in December. The band have made a conscious decision to play smaller venues to capture the spirit and excitement that marked them out as one of the most exciting live bands in the country.

The band, who are currently writing for their second album (due in 2008) will also road-test a number of new songs at the gigs. The full list of dates are as follows:

The album gathers together a series of 40 cover versions by contemporary artists, each one taken from one of the forty years Radio 1 has been on air. Representing 2003, The View have covered The Libertines' Don't Look Back Into The Sun.

So it's official - Hats Off To The Buskers has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize.

The Award Show takes place on 4 September, and there will as ever be extensive BBC TV and radio coverage of the event at the time - but you could be there in person!

You can win a pair of VIP tickets to the Awards Show, plus a Bose iPod SoundDock, a pair of Bose in-ear headphones, a video iPod and all 12 albums of the year.

We are delighted to confirm that The View will play Radio 1's "One Big Weekend" for the second year running. The event takes place in Preston this year at Moor Park on 19th & 20th May. Last year the event was held in the bands hometown of Dundee and they opened up the "In new music we Trust stage" on the 2nd day, this year however they will be playing on the main stage. Red Stripe and Clash Magazine present an exclusive homecoming gig for Scotland�s trailblazing indie heroes The View.

The View will be playing a one-off homecoming gig in Dundee on 28 April as part of the �Bring it on Back� gig series brought to you by Red Stripe. Bring It On Back 2 is being presented and programmed in association with Clash, long terms friends and supporters of The View, and partners in the Bring It On Back series

The View began their musical career, and sought inspiration for their name, in the backroom of the Dundee pub The Bayview Bar, before being thrown out for lead singer, Kyle Falconer, supposedly riding a scooter along the bar. They soon moved to The Doghouse, where their music began to take shape. And the rest they say is history.

Clash and Red Stripe will be presenting this one-off gig to 250 fans in The Doghouse � giving their loyal audience an exclusive chance to see The View up close and in their own backyard, in the venue where they served their apprenticeship. At a time when The View are filling venue�s 10 times the size of The Doghouse, it is a truly unique chance to see a number 1 band.

All tickets to fans who will attend the Bring It On Back Series are free. They will be distributed by the band, Red Stripe and Clash through their respective websites and myspace, as well as through an online competition at www.redstripe.net/theview

Knowsley Hall Festival

The Who and The View set for new festival

The Coral and The Zutons will also play Knowsley Hall bash.

The Who and Keane have been confirmed to headline a new festival in Liverpool .

The bands will play the Knowsley Hall bash, which takes place between June 23 and 24. It will be the first event taking place at the stately home, the ancestral seat of the Earls Of Derby.

The Who headline the Saturday night (23) while The Coral, The View and Pete Wylie And The Mighty Wah have been confirmed for that day too.

Keane top the bill on the second night (24), with The Zutons also confirmed.

The flipside on the 7� vinyl will feature a brand new re-recorded cut of fans favourite �Screamin n Shoutin�, and the cd will have an exclusive new track entitled �Cherry Girl�, as well as a live version of Superstar Tradesman. Right folks - the moment you have all been waiting for! We can now reveal that Hats Off To The Buskers, the 14-track album by The View, will be released on January 22nd 2007 on 1965 Records. Not only that but the new single, Same Jeans will be released on January 15th.

As you may know, the album was produced by Owen Morris (producer of the Verve�s seminal Northern Soul and Oasis� debut Definitely Maybe) in rural Yorkshire in two weeks during May of this year and features those crowd favourites Wasted Little DJ's and Superstar Tradesman. Superstar Tradesman, which has already been Edith Bowman's Record Of The Week on her Radio 1 show, will be released on 23rd October.

Xfm's Big Night Out returns!

London's biggest ever indie club night happens at the Carling Academy Brixton on Saturday, 14th October.

From 9pm to 3am Xfm DJs take over 4 separate rooms and the line-up includes Richard Bacon, Ian Camfield, Sarah Darling, John Kennedy, Adam Longworth, Marsha, Nick Luscombe, Iain Baker, Jon Hillcock, First Friday resident DJ Jared plus a special DJ set from members of the Editors. The Fratellis, The View and Milburn will be performing live.

If that's not enough, pints of Carling are only �1.95 a pint all night.

Tickets are priced only �12 in advance go on sale 9am Thursday, 14th September. Make sure you get yours from the Xfm Xchange on 0871 222 1049 and from xfm.co.uk.
